PAIN CONDITIONS

Non-specific back pain

Back pain without a clear structural cause.

‘Non-specific’ pain involves an experience of pain that cannot be attributed to a clear structural cause. It is more complex in nature than 'specific' pain, and often involves dynamic changes within your nervous and immune system.

Solving non-specific back pain requires that we look beyond 'anatomy' – your physical body structure – and towards 'physiology' – how your body actually functions.

Our treatment approach

Non-specific pain requires a holistic, multidisciplinary treatment approach. This often includes a combination of physical rehabilitation, medical support, lifestyle interventions and neuroplasticity therapies.

Neuroplasticity based therapies are particularly effective for non-specific pain conditions. They work by reprogramming the brain’s pain pathways – effectively ‘teaching’ your brain to produce less pain.

All pain is real

"When it comes to chronic pain, pain levels are almost always disproportional to, or even completely independent of, actual structure damage. This does make pain more complex but it does not make it any less real or treatable."
